INDIGO VELVET Feature in The Metro
The Metro said:
MUSIC | INDIGO VELVET
“It’s been a big year for Edinburgh’s Indigo Velvet.
The four-piece band, who evolved from a high school group in 2013, have seen themselves dubbed ‘one to watch’ by pretty much every publication going and picked up a lot of airplay [not to mention Spotify plays].
They’ve also attracted new fans through their live appearances at a number of festivals including T In The Park – bassist Laurie Adam told the BBC that he cried when they secured that slot.
It’s all the more impressive given that the group have yet to release an EP or an album, although they do have an uplifting new single Sunrise, to coincide with their 12-date UK tour.
The track hints at their indie and African influences, and goes some way to explaining why so many people have described them as “tropical” a description which never occurred to Indigo Velvet themselves – they think their penchant for colourful shirts may have influenced the critics as much as their sound.
But while there’s something summery about Indigo Velvet (and their wardrobe), their gig at the La Belle Angele will show their ever-growing fanbase that this group isn’t just for holidays and festivals – they can see you through the winter and into what promises to be a big 2017.”

The Edinburgh quartet have had a breakthrough year; dubbed ’one’s to watch’ by Scotland On Sunday, Clash Magazine, The Sun and Tenement TV. Airplay on BBC Introducing, Communion Records’ Radio X show, Amazing Radio and most recently a live session on the Janice Forsyth Show on BBC Radio Scotland. Thanks to a steadily growing fanbase, they’ve clocked up over 150,000 plays via Spotify and performed to sizeable crowds at XpoNorth, Lindisfarne Festival, Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival and T In The Park (securing an interview / spin on Radio 1).
